Challenge: The FIT Fast

If a FIT mind is the engine of change, then a FIT body is the frame.

Your body is your mind’s most powerful instrument; Your skeleton shields your mind from harm while your cells deliver nutrients to your mind so that it can dream. At the same time, your muscles and tendons work in harmony with your mind, moving your body into action so that it can bring those dreams into reality.

In this way, being mentally FIT without being physically FIT is like having a sword with a sturdy handle and a dull blade; each swing may be accurate but each one ultimately has little to no effect, making your desired outcome much harder to achieve. Being physically FIT does not require a certain shape or weight, but it does require a dedication to hearing, understanding, and making decisions that benefit your body: your most powerful instrument for change.

The Role of Fasting

Fasting is the willing abstinence or reduction from some or all food, drink, or both, for a period of time. Although sometimes viewed as unhealthy, depriving, or reserved for religious reasons, short-term fasting can offer excellent health benefits. As research grows in this area of health, fasting is becoming more widely accepted as a legitimate means of managing weight and preventing disease. At the same time, it is important that fasting is done in proper and healthy ways.

Essentially, fasting cleanses our body of toxins and forces cells into processes that are not usually stimulated when a steady stream of fuel from food is always present.

The FIT Fast

The FIT Fast is designed to help you transition into a healthy, FIT lifestyle. First and foremost, we will not be starving ourselves over the course of this program. Instead, we will start to evaluate the positive and negative aspects of our nutritional habits. Then, we will slowly phase out things that can have negative impacts your health. This process in combination with regular exercise will create a transformation in your body and mind!

Step 1: Commit to drinking 32 ounces of water daily for the next 30 days.

Step 2: Do you have a problem with CATS? How is your current relationship with CATS? (Caffeine, Alcohol, Tobacco and Sugar) on a scale from 'no use' to 'dependant'? These substances are readily available in our modern society, and many of us have room to explore their roles in our lives. Do you rely on any of them to alter your mood? Is there a change you’d like to make in this area?

Step 2A: Getting rid of CATS

  1. Rate your relationship with Caffeine, Alcohol, Tobacco, Sugar on a Scale of 1-5 (with 5 being dependent and 1 being “free”)

  2. Choose one of these substances and cut it out of your life COMPLETELY for the next 30 days!
